Candidates should have a Ph. D. in condensed matter physics, physical chemistry or related engineering field. Demonstrated research accomplishment in at least one of polymer physics, material mechanics, or tribology is required. Experience in nanolithgraphical processing including focused ion beam milling, electron beam lithographic processing and/or nanoimprint is highly desired.

Physics of Nanostructure Forming

On September 24th and 25th Julia Greer of Cal Tech visited the Cross group. A small workshop highlighting CRANN nanomechanics was the prelude to a great presentation by Julia on size effects in material deformation. The following day after meetings with TCD researchers and a break in the rain that week, Julia and the Cross group headed out to the wilds of Howth in north Dublin for a great hike. Husband Frank and daughter Masik accompanied.

Available immediately: A 1 year postdoctoral fellowship at CRANN to test and model adhesion of drug eluting coatings to coronary stents in collaboration with Boston Scientific. Successful canditate will have experience in nanoindentation testing and, preferrably, finite element modeling.
